By Elton Beard
There are two kinds of people in the world,
those who divide people into two kinds and
those who don't. I don't.

Shorter Charles Krauthammer:
Distorting Sam Alito
- To accuse Judge Alito of having conservative inclinations based
only on his past rulings is despicable, discreditable and of course, depraved.
|

Shorter Jonathan Chait:
Bush's dishonest mistakes
- When Mr. Bush ordered the U.N. inspectors who were finding Iraq free of banned weapons
to leave so he could launch his unprovoked war, he honestly believed he
was acting to avert an imminent threat.

Shorter Jim Hoagland:
Open Up, Mr. President
- Bush is innocent - he was framed by the CIA.
|
|
Plus: A Serious Accusation. Mr. Hoagland claims that Federal Prosecutor
Patrick Fitzgerald is dishonest - he calls him "deftly disingenuous" - and that
the CIA is secretly manipulating the criminal justice system (and the media):
The hidden management of the criminal justice process and the news media
practiced by spooks in Wilson-Rove-Libbygate is nothing short of brilliant.
But why? Why would the CIA have it in for Mr. Bush?
... operatives mounted a rebellion against the White House,
in part to shift attention from their failures to yours.
So let's see. These CIA people have corrupted the courts and manipulated
domestic media in carrying out a plot to damage an American
president during wartime for personal gain. Some might call that treason.
And all they get is this lousy Op-Ed piece?

Shorter Bull Moose:
High Crimes and Misdemeanors
- I'm not saying the Bush administration didn't fabricate the reason for war,
but to say they did is just plain rude.
|
Plus: No, Really. To discredit Mr. Bush's detractors, Mr. Moose
makes sure to associate the accusation of
administration mendacity with the dreaded Michael Moore. And that is the
apex of his argument. Mysteriously,
his defense of Mr. Bush not only marshals no evidence to obviate the
charge of making war under false pretext but totally forgets to ever actually
deny the grave allegation itself.

Shorter Richard Cohen:
A War Without Winners
- Don't you just hate it when you bomb and shoot and kill and maim
and torture lots and lots of innocent people in distant lands for
no discernable reason and the world is still not a better place?

Shorter Max Boot:
Plamegate's real liar
- Wilson lied, the war is justified.
|
Plus: No, Mr. Boot, I expect you to lie. Max Boot's red herring is notable mostly for
being itself comprised of several untruths which, coincidentally, closely resemble
official Republican Treasongate talking points (see
A,
B,
C and
D,
via).
Several of these have been conveniently pre-refuted by
Larry Johnson
and Media Matters.
