By Elton Beard
There are two kinds of people in the world,
those who divide people into two kinds and
those who don't. I don't.

Shorter David Gelernter:
Americans won't let Democrats lose Iraq
- Real Americans will foil Democratic Americans' plot to defeat the real America in Iraq.
|
|
Plus: Religious War Redundant? Between prospective declarations of victory,
Mr. Gelernter also addresses the real impetus for the current dirty business in Iraq:
Polls show American uneasiness about the war. Naturally. The fighting is dirty and
dangerous. But the U.S. is a God-fearing nation; we are proving that by battling
to spread justice. Polls also suggest that Americans are resolved to fight in
Iraq until the job is done.
Our pundit clearly implies that the underlying motivation of the war is theological.
But if the U.S. ceases bombing and leaves Iraq tomorrow, Iraq will undoubtedly
become a very God-fearing nation in short order. Just like Mr. Gelernter's
America. Same God, even. So, what's the problem?

Shorter Max Boot:
The rift on the right that isn't
- Some favor diplomacy and cooperation, others prefer murder and mayhem,
but what's important to remember is that we're all idealists on this bus.

Shorter Robert Kagan:
It Wasn't Just Miller's Story
- The New York Times and Washington Post editorial pages routinely advocated
military action against Iraq's vast arsenal of banned weapons based on
reporting no less meticulous and sourcing just as veracious as Judy Miller's.
